Types of Thinking, Dopamine, and the Ideal Studio Space

There are two modes of thinking:

1. Convergent: taking loose ideas and linking them together into a common or specific framework in order to get a specific outcome.

-compile several thoughts into one greater idea/picture

2. Divergent: brainstorming many possible ideas/ solutions

Divergent thinking is used to form many possible ideas, while convergent thinking can be used to refine those ideas and lead to the actual creation of those ideas.

Dopamine is a neuromodultor and it is involved in motivation

- helps us direct attention outside of us, and is related to convergent and diverent thinking and creativity

- when dopamine levels are high people are inclined to think divergently (more prone to creativity and exploration of new ideas)

- when the levels of dopamine are low divergent thinking is less likely

- if dopamine is too high there is a plataeu it doesnt make you more creative so it doesn't help with divergent thinking

The process of having original ideas that have value come from the process of creativity (through divergent thinking)

Women have a thicker corpus collosum, which is why we are better at multitaskng.

My ideal studio would have 7 different dance rooms. the lobby would have a front desk where 2-3 front desk people could sit to help parents and students. The floor of the lobby would be gray wood flooring, and there would also be various couches and chairs for parents to sit. I would have a viewing room for parents to look in on classes without distracting their child, and I would also have a meditation/ nap room for the students. There would also be a locker/dressing room for the students to change after school, and a mini area for them to heat up any food or store their food in a fridge. There would be a teachers' lounge with a kitchenette and couches. The walls would be lined with pictures of students, past shows,  staff, and trophies. The biggest of the dance rooms would also serve as a showcase room, so students could get comfortable with stage lighting and people watching them. There would be LED lighting that changes colors when the teacher wants, other than that the lights would be warm white. Each studio space will have a different color and aesthetic based on the styles and age groups. The showcase studio would have black walls to mimic the stage. The flooring in all studios would be impact flooring to prevent injury, and it would be covered in black marley. I would have various styles of dance like ballet, african, ballroom, and many others.
